4 local high school kids died a couple days ago at a nearby rail road crossing. Alot of people speed over it; I know I’m guilty. There’s alot of country roads out here and at that age you think you’re invincible. The driver lost control, ran into the ditch, hit a tree, then ended up upside down in the road.
Two of them were supposed to graduate the next day.
Today they were selling shirts at the high school in memory of them and I stopped by to pick a couple up. The money is being donated to the families so it’s a good cause anyway. They were sold out of everything but large and xl by the time I got there. They quickly sold out of the rest after I left. There were about 1,200 shirts and I was even 30 minutes early. Shows how much support our community has.
On my way home I passed the wake for two of the boys who were killed. I swear people were lined up for a mile. Police were everywhere. My heart sank and I teared up while driving by.
It’s such a grim reminder about how easily life can be taken away. Death doesn’t discriminate. I know I’ll never be driving like a maniac on those roads ever again.
